The Hebrides are different - islanders and visitors alike will tell you.  Timeless, untainted by the more dubious elements of progress, the islands are a truly special corner of the world where the pursuit of rest and relaxation is still an art form!  Blending machair with moorland, spotless sandy beaches with dramatic rocky headlands, North Uist lies in the centre of the archipelago known as the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides, with Benbecula and Bernaray as it's neighbour and accessible by causeway.  To the west lie St Kilda and the open Atlantic; to the east the warm waters of the Minch.... and so 'over the sea to Skye'.

Overlooking the Sea Loch (Loch Nam Madadh), and only 100 yards from the ferry terminal, stands the Lochmaddy Hotel.  A traditional white-washed highland building, the hotel has recently been refurbished throughout.

The 15 Bedrooms are all individually furnished, and offer en-suite facilities, colour television and direct-dial telephone.  Many rooms have lovely views of Lochmaddy Bay and the Minch.

The standard of our accommodation is matched only by the quality of our cuisine with our award winning restaurant, offering the best in local seafood and game as well as excellent vegetarian meals.  There are breakfasts to suit everyone, a good selection of wines and an impressive collection of Malt Whiskies.  Bar meals are served daily in our lounges with real fires and stunning sea views.

The hotel also offers a self-catering house only 100 yards from the hotel.

For the fisherman we offer excellent game fishing with boats on 20 lochs as well as the renowned sea pools producing salmon and sea trout.

Ghillies are available and we have a recently refurbished rod and drying room.  Sea angling is also available from our own angling cruiser and we are able to arrange other outdoor activities.

With the opening of the Skye bridge travel to the islands has never been easier, and the journey up through the highlands is always time well spent.  Caledonian MacBrayne operates daily ferry services from Skye to Lochmaddy.  An alternative route is from Oban to Lochboisdale.

If you are in a real hurry to get here, we recommend the daily (Monday - Saturday) flights from Glasgow to Benbecula operated by British Airways.  Car hire is available and Glasgow is only a shuttle flight from London.
