Lochmaddy Hotel was Established in 1863 and is the oldest hotel in North Uist . We have a rich history and people from all over the world have come to stay with us for over 150 years. We are a relaxed family run hotel with the owners John And Lorna on duty every day , John looks after all the fishing guests giving them plenty of advice and often providing himself as a ghillie . Lorna is at reception most mornings and is often a great source of local information and contacts , buses , taxis etc... .
John and Lorna's Oldest children, Lewis and Sophie are also on duty most days and you will often see them serving and looking after guests . Their younger daughter Hannah is just starting her apprenticeship by doing pot wash once or twice a week ! and there youngest daughter Isla is often seen around the hotel in a rather bossy manner for a 7 year old! . There is a very relaxed family feel to the hotel.
We have a strong link to the outdoors and John looks after the fishing roster everyday on behalf of North uist Estates , don't forget that guests staying at the hotel have priority on the fishing roster.
Our kitchen team is run by Chef Tom and Pastry chef/kitchen manager Eildih. Tom has been using local produce for the last twenty years ! a vastly experienced chef with a passion for good wholesome food, whilst Eilidh is an absolute magician with anything sweet! often creating unique home made desserts!
Our front of house team have all the local knowledge you will need and are a great source of information in the evenings , if you want to know the best beaches where to find them , some fishing tips or even learn some Gaelic phrases ! Lewis , Sophie , Maggins , Daniel and the team are always around to help.
Natalie will often look after you at breakfast and will make sure you are fed and watered! to ensure a great start to your day.
